Training and Supervision in Experientially Oriented Psychotherapy and in "Working with the body in psychotherapy"
1. Clinical Supervision
I offer clinical supervision for psychologists and mental health counselors who are interested in developing their skills in and their understanding of experientially oriented psychotherapy.2. “Working With the Body in Psychotherapy”: Training in Contemporary Reichian Psychotherapy
“Working With the Body in Psychotherapy” is an in depth two year training program for psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, and other health professionals who desire to become fully grounded in the theoretical and procedural fundamentals necessary for ‘working with the body in psychotherapy’. These fundamentals are derived from 30+ years of clinical practice, and embody an integration of classical Reichian psychotherapy (orgone therapy), Gestalt Therapy, and contemporary developments in the fields of attachment and affect theory - all of which make up what I refer to as Contemporary Reichian Psychotherapy.
Training consists of six 7 hour Saturday sessions (9:30AM – 5:30PM minus a 1 hour lunch break) dispersed through the fall, winter, and spring, at approximately 6 week intervals. Saturday sessions include discussion of assigned readings, clinical demonstrations, video presentations and opportunities to work with one another in the roles of both therapist and client – which together will provide a sufficient integration of thinking, feeling, and action necessary for the fundamentals addressed above to truly take hold.
The first year of training focuses on the teaching of Reich's character analytic and biophysical approach to psychotherapy.
The second year of training focuses upon the incorporation of ideas derived from Gestalt Therapy and affect and attachment theory into the overall scheme of Reich's therapeutic approach.
The fee for the 6 sessions is $800. Sessions are held either in Portland, OR or downtown Vancouver, WA.
The next training group will begin in Fall 2008.
